We always love a good story, so we thought we would share this one from a modern day adventurer - Owen Gregory.  With the help of some hiking poles from On Track Hiking Hire, Owen walked 600km from Kalgoorlie to Perth.  This is what he wrote...

On Saturday July the 5th at 5:30 am Owen Gregory embarked on the longest walk of his life-a 600 km walk from Kalgoorlie to Perth. Hoping to reach Perth on the following Saturday (the 12th of July) meant he would have to average close to 80 km a day, a distance that increased the difficulty of an already challenging task. Walking 140 km after the first two days (11 hours a day) and sleeping in the back of his car took its’ toll on his body. He spent the 3rd day walking a gruelling 50km with a torn abductor muscle and swollen feet. This trend continued throughout the remaining nine days of the walk. Battling heat, wind, rain, injuries and fatigue and dodging traffic along the Great Eastern Highway Owen strolled into Perth on Wednesday the 16th of July at Heirisson Island greeted with applause from friends and family.

Owen has already indicated he wants to return to the Goldfields and set up a few of his own walk trails for others to enjoy.  We are keen to see what he has in store, so we have asked that he keep in touch.  The On Track Hiking Hire Team are keen to open there own trails in the Cave Hill/Victoria Rock area.  We look forward to sharing more stories with Owen in the near future.
