Gear Info
We often get asked the same questions about our gear - a few are repeated here for your convenience (together with our response).
Where do I collect the gear from?
On Track Hiking Hire operates from home, so collection will from 12 Parkway Rd, Bibra Lake and usually out side of normal office hours. An alternate collection point at Wembley is available (by request) during normal office hours.
Am I expected to clean the gear when I return it?
There is a expectation that the gear be returned as clean as possible. As part of the bond return process, I need to unpack the gear to review for damage etc so it is not always essential that tents (for example) are packed away properly.
If everyone does the right thing in returning the gear clean and tidy, I can keep prices down and continue to offer great service.
What if something breaks while I use it?
Our gear is good condition but there is no telling how well the manaufacturers have made products. I accept that some things will break due to age and general wear and tear and this is built in to the cost of the hire. Damage that results for mis-use or lack of care will result in bond being withheld until the item(s) can be repaired or replaced.
I am happy to report everyone I have hired to has shown the utmost care. Please report any damage when returning gear so I can get it fixed promptly (don't be afraid to tell me - I am fair & reasonable).
Can I preview the gear before I hire it?
Part of the service we offer is to allow you to interact with our gear. This means I am happy to erect tents, load up backpacks, fire up trangias and spend quality time getting you comfortable with your gear. When you email me your gear requirements, I always offer a time to come and review and discuss your gear needs.
